What to check for
You do not need to look for all of this. Note whatever you happen to see, and give us enough detail that someone can find it again.
- Litter and garbage. Describe where it was, and note the location of large items you cannot remove safely or easily.
- Edge brushing and low branches along the side of the trail.
- Deadfall and windfall across the tread.
- Slope erosion.
- Brook and stream crossings. Are they safe? Do they need work?
- Boardwalks. In good repair, or not.
- Trail surface conditions — wet areas that need addressing.
- Trail braiding, creep and widening. Are users expanding the trail or creating side trails to get around obstacles?
- Signage in place and visible; trail markers visible and adequate.
- Vandalism.
- Illegal OHV or bicycle use.
- Campfires and campsites not at a Leave No Trace location.
- Any other safety hazard.
Please give the general location of any problem, including the loop and GPS coordinates where you have them, and say whether the condition needs immediate attention or can be addressed during regular maintenance.
Fill in the report
Fill this in and the button at the bottom will open your email program with the whole report already written out, addressed to info@wrweo.ca. Nothing is sent from this page and nothing is stored here — you send it yourself, and you can edit it before you do.
Photographs
Photographs help a great deal, particularly for damage and for anything that needs to be found again. Attach them to the email, or paste a link to an album, and send to info@wrweo.ca.
Logging volunteer hours
Stewards and volunteers can also log time through Strava, in the BTSP Stewards and Volunteers club. Hours logged there feed the annual totals in the year-in-review reports — 1,999 hours in 2024, 72% of them volunteered.
